Paris Saint-Germain have announced the return of Brazilian duo Neymar (30) and Marquinhos (28) to training with just under a week to go until the restart of the Ligue 1 season.

Unlike Kylian Mbappé (24) and Achraf Hakimi (24), who returned to the Camp des Loges yesterday, Brazilian teammates Marquinhos and Neymar have had a more lengthy rest after Brazil were eliminated from the World Cup at the quarter-final stage. The South American side exited the tournament on 9th December. 

During that defeat, Marquinhos missed a penalty in the shoot-out against Croatia. L’Équipe reported that following that miss, Marquinhos was “sad” and “very dejected” and decided to remain in Qatar after the game. It is unclear whether he, or Neymar, will be available for the return of Ligue 1 action next Wednesday. The reigning Ligue 1 champions, who currently sit top of the table, face Strasbourg at the Parc des Princes.
