Currently representing England in the Women’s World Cup, the player has confirmed she will not be returning to Catalunya for 2019-20
Toni Duggan has left Barcelona following two successful seasons with the club.
Duggan joined the Spanish side in 2017 and went on to play 72 games, scoring 29 goals in the process.
The Liverpool-born forward leaves having won the Copa de la Reina and the Copa Catalunya, while also collecting runners-up medals twice in the Primera Division and also once in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Upon the announcement of her departure, Duggan said: “It was a dream come true to wear the famous colours of FC Barcelona.
“To represent one of the biggest and most special clubs in the world has been a huge honour – but I feel the time is right for me to pursue a new challenge.
“Together with my teammates and, of course, the wonderful supporters, I was able to win two trophies and enjoy many other memorable moments.
“A great many people have helped me over the last two years and I want to thank them all – you will always be in my heart,” the 27-year-old added.
“Forca Barca!”
Duggan began her career with Everton, breaking into the first team as a 16-year-old due to injuries.
Just two years later, she would be named the FA Women’s Young Player of the Year, although her senior England debut wouldn’t come until 2012, in a 3-0 win over Croatia.
The forward moved to Manchester City a year later, where she would win the FA Women’s Super League, the Women’s FA Cup and the FA Women’s League Cup – the latter twice.
After two years abroad, her next club will be revealed in due course, with a decision to stay out of England unlikely to surprise many given how fondly she has spoken of her experiences in Spain.
“It’s been an unbelievable experience,” she told the Guardian earlier this year.

“I’ve loved every minute of it and I’d recommend it to youth coming through because, like I said, it takes you out of your comfort zone: you learn a new language, a new style of play.”
Duggan is not the only member of England’s Women’s World Cup squad to be playing outside of England either.
Both Jodie Taylor and Rachel Daly are currently playing in the United States, for Seattle Reign and Houston Dash respectively, while Lucy Bronze is at Lyon and Mary Earps is at Wolfsburg.
So far in France, Duggan has played three games, having missed the opening two through injury.
