Three previously international French footballers are in embroiled in a fresh scandal this afternoon.

According to Le Parisien, Manchester City attacking midfielder Samir Nasri, PSG full-back Layvin Kurzawa and AC Milan frontman Jérémy Menez paid between €2,000 to €8,000 in order to illegally purchase a driving licence from a registered driving centre in Neuilly without successfully passing their driving tests.

Over 300 hundred individuals are understood to have partaken in this driving licence scam, which was uncovered only thanks to an internal routine inspection at the Nanterre Prefecture.

Three civil servants working for the Nanterre Prefecture, who are also understood to have been involved, alongside the manager of the driving school in Neuilly, Patrick Antonelli, who also happens to be the husband of singer Amel Bent, spent 48 hours in policy custody concerning their alleged involvement in this next work.

It seems that the driving school manager was the individual in charge of reeling in various celebrities and individuals into partaking in this fraudulent scheme, whilst the civil servants at the Nanterre prefecture ensured that the paperwork was pushed through.

The scam is believed to have gone on from between Autumn 2013 to at least Spring 2015. It was during an internal routine inspection that the scam was uncovered in May last year. The findings were reported and the matter was transferred to the Nanterre prosecutors office.

The scam could have earned the individuals involved up to €1m. Not only did they take certain cash payments, but they also took gifts.

All four individuals will be presented to the investigating judge today, with the prosecutor set begin a criminal investigation, focusing specifically on corruption and the falsification of official administrative documents.
