Formula 1 teams will enjoy their very first use of Pirelli’s new Hypesoft tyre at the Monaco Grand Prix.

The Italian manufactured announced its nominated compounds for the sixth round of the world championship set to take place in the glitzy principality on May 27.

In addition to the pink-rimmed Hypersoft rubber, Pirelli will also supply teams with the Ultrasoft and Supersoft tyres – the three softest compounds in the manufacturer’s range, which will also appear at the Canadian Grand Prix.

During pre-season testing in Barcelona, the delta between the softest compounds slightly varied among the teams while the Hypersoft’s degradation also differed.

“The hypersoft hung on a lot better than we expected,” said Renault tech boss Nick Chester.

“We thought it might be a single lap tyre but Nico [Hulkenberg] had three good push laps on it with cool laps in-between and was quickest on his last one.
