Eduardo Barredo Capelot has been appointed director for social and information society statistics  in the European Commission’s statistics office, Eurostat. Barredo Capelot is currently head of unit for business statistics, co-ordination and registers in the same department. He starts his new job on 1 March.

Dorothea Pandova-Gargova has been appointed to the European Investment Bank’s board of directors. Pandova-Gargova, who was an adviser to Bulgaria’s deputy prime minister and finance minister, replaces fellow Bulgarian Dimiter Ivanovski.

Thomas Tindemans has been appointed chief executive of Hill and Knowlton Strategies Belgium. Tindemans has been managing director at the firm since September 2010. He replaces Jeroen van Seeters, who will become strategy director for Europe. Hill and Knowlton Strategies Belgium has also appointed Mark Cunningham as senior vice-president and Melanie Faithfull Kent as chief operating officer.

Eleni Despotou has been appointed secretary-general of the European Lime Industry Association (EuLA). Despotou was previously the deputy secretary-general and policy director of the European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA).

José Carvalho Netto has been elected chairman of the Association of European Energy Exchanges (EUROPEX) for a two-year term. Carvalho Netto is the chairman and chief executive of energy firms OMIE, based in Spain, and OMIP, based in Portugal.

Jesse Griffiths has been appointed director of the European Network on Debt and Development (Eurodad). Griffiths previously worked as the co-ordinator of the Bretton Woods Project, which monitors the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, and for ActionAid UK.
