Texas Inmate Accidentally Released On Clerical Error

CONROE, TX — The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is looking for an inmate who was accidentally released from its jail on Wednesday. Officials said Friday that a clerical error was made on Wednesday leading to the inadvertent release of an inmate who had the same last named as another inmate at the jail.

Officials said 30-year-old Edward Manning was released on a personal recognizance bond, but that it was Jeffery Manning who was supposed to have been released.

Edward Manning was originally arrested on felony assault-family violence and was eligible for release with a bond of $20,000.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office called Edward Manning on his cell phone and demanded that he return to the jail., but he refused.

As a result, police in Montgomery County and in Harris County, where Manning is from, are looking for him, officials said.

Anyone with any information on Edward Manning’s whereabouts, is asked to to call the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at (936) 760-5800 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 392-STOP (7867). A $1,000 reward is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
