Dragon Wrestlers Drop Nonconference Dual to Wisconsin-Parkside, 28-13
KENOSHA, Wis. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team opened the new year with a 28-13 loss to Wisconsin-Parkside in a nonconference dual Saturday night in Kenosha, Wis.
MSUM fell to 0-2 in duals on the year while Wisconsin-Parkside improved to 2-3.
The Dragons won three matches and got bonus points from senior Zach Scott at 149 and sophomore Evan Foster at 174 but also surrendered bonus points at 125, 133, 165 and 197.
Scott’s pin of Wisconsin-Parkside’s Jake Poka in 6:09 got MSUM on the board and closed the Ranger lead to 13-6. Scott is now 13-9 on the season.
UWP won the next two weights, including Nathan Hensley’s 3-1 sudden victory win over MSUM junior at 157, to push the lead back 21-6.
Foster had a good showing, beating Tanner Anthony by major decision at 174 to improve to 14-8 on the year to cut the UWP lead to 21-10, but the Rangers won the next two to put the match out of reach. Junior Jordan Magnuson picked up a win at 285 for MSUM, edging Nate Lloyd 2-1.

The Dragons open a four-match homestand on Jan. 11 against Southwest Minnesota State. The dual begins at 3 p.m. at Nemzek Fieldhouse.
