According to a report by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has contacted Enzo Amore and Big Cass about a possible return to the company.

The idea is that WWE would like the once-popular tag team to return to the NXT brand as a big surprise for the show’s move to a live, two-hour timeslot on the USA Network, starting Wednesday October 2. 

Amore was fired by WWE in early 2018 while holding the Cruiserweight Championship amid allegations of sexual misconduct, and reportedly failing to inform the company of what he was up against. Cass was released six months later due to “behavioral issues”.

Enzo showed up in the front few rows of the 2018 WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view and was escorted out of the building by security after causing a scene. He and Cass both turned up in the crowd at G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden this April, but that was a planned segment with Ring of Honor that received a lot of heat, and never panned out into a return to the ring.

UPDATE: For what it’s worth, Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com is refuting this story, originally posted by the Observer, claiming there is “no basis” to the story and there have been “zero discussions” between WWE and the former tag team.

UPDATE #2: According to F4WOnline.com, which originally published the story to begin with, WWE sources are stating that they zero interest in bringing back Enzo and Cass at this time.
