WWE 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick has officially announced that Buddy Murphy will finally get his shot at Cedric Alexander and the Cruiserweight Championship. The bout will go down on the May 29th edition of 205 Live at the PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina.

There is no one quite like Murphy on the Cruiserweight roster right now, as the hard-hitting Australian has been brutalizing the division and picking up major wins ever since arriving on the purple brand earlier this year for the Cruiserweight Championship tournament.

His aggression caught the eye of current champion Cedric Alexander after a successful defense at WrestleMania 31, and originally their title match was set to go down at the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia. However, due to Murphy legitimately missing weight, he was temporarily pulled from the show and a gauntlet match was set to determine his replacement in the match.

It’s unknown why WWE is waiting another three weeks to give Murphy his opportunity, although it may have something to do with the international tour kicking off today that will see the company put on shows all around Europe. It was already announced that next week’s episode of 205 Live will see stars from the Cruiserweight division take on stars from the WWE UK division.
