In case you missed it, Austin Aries caused quite the scene this Sunday night after no-selling the effects of his main event match at Bound for Glory.
Just seconds after being pinned by Johnny Impact (former WWE Superstar John Morrison) and losing the Impact World Championship, Aries got back to his feet and began talking trash to someone in the balcony of the Melrose Ballroom, assumed to be Impact executive Don Callis. He then flipped off Morrison, the fans and cameras before walking out, leaving everyone at ringside looking confused.
According to Bryan Alvarez on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Aries actually went home after Bound for Glory and will not be in New York for tonight’s Impact Wrestling television tapings.
Impact star and backstage producer Petey Williams stated on his podcast today that Sunday’s title match was actually the final appearance on Aries’ contract with the promotion. It’s possible that he could be brought back at some point, but with him missing the TV tapings he will at least be off television for the next four weeks.

It’s difficult to know where the line is between “work” and “shoot” as the rivalry between Aries and Impact had elements of realism and legitimate tension between the two superstars. Many believe the entire incident was all an elaborate part of a story to generate buzz, but there’s many who also think it started as a story, and at some point turned personal.
