Backstage News on Oney Lorcan's New Contract With WWE & more

— When Oney Lorcan announced on Twitter that he had agreed to a new contract with WWE, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that he actually had not signed the deal at that time but the two sides were close enough and confident that it would become official. That is why Lorcan used the wording that he had “agreed” to a new deal. As for whether WWE would have released him due to his unhappiness is unknown but the facts are that he had stopped working for the company and his contract had been frozen. In cases like this, unless the talent comes back and honours their contract, WWE would essentially keep the contract frozen indefinitely.

— Lorcan’s case differed from that of Luke Harper, who was unhappy but willing to work, which meant WWE couldn’t freeze his contract. Another key difference is that while the reports of his unhappiness leaked online, Lorcan himself never went public on the subject apart from taking some digs at management through his tweets and changing his handle to a name he used on the indies.
