— As noted before, Vince McMahon made a last minute change in plans on Tuesday, nixing the women’s fatal four-way match to determine the Smackdown #1 contender and instead going forward with an Asuka vs. Charlotte match which saw the title change hands. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the original plan for that four-way match was for Mandy Rose to win and then go on to face Asuka at WrestleMania in a rematch from Fastlane.
— However, at some point on Tuesday, the decision was made to eliminate that match due to either a lack of general interest and/or to bring down the total number of matches on an overloaded WrestleMania PPV. At one point, the rumor was that WrestleMania would have no less than 17 matches on the show, but it appears there will now be between 14-16 with one week of TV shows left to finalize everything.
