In a rather bizarre incident, a woman who went to court with a plea to reinstate her job found herself spending a week in jail. It all began with S Mangalam, a resident of Nilayur in Tamil Nadu’s Pudukkottai District, moving the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court against sacking her from her Anganwadi job.

The woman, who was appointed a part-time anganwadi employee in 1999 was seeking a direction to the authorities to reinstate her in service.
