Farmers say that glyphosate is vital to preserve yields of agricultural staples, while environmentalists and health campaigners fear that it can cause cancer and damages the soil.

EU countries on Wednesday failed to reach consensus on a new license and another meeting is set to be held in November, only weeks before the herbicide’s permit expires on December 15.
