Fedor Emelianenko hospitalized with COVID-19

Legendary MMA heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko said in a Thursday Instagram post that he is hospitalized with COVID-19.

RT Sport reported that the 44-year-old is at a medical facility that specializes in treating those with the coronavirus. Russia’s state-owned news agency RIA Novosti first reported Emelianenko’s health status but there is no news on how he got it or his current physical state.

On the post, he said (translated), “Thank you all who are sincerely worried about my health. I am feeling well now, I am on the mend. I am grateful to the doctors and medical staff for their care and your hard work.”

Emelianenko last competed in December 2019 as part of Bellator’s debut in Japan, defeating Quinton “Rampage” Jackson by TKO in the first round. He signed a new multi-fight deal with the company in the summer of 2019 and is 3-2 overall since making his promotional debut in 2017.
