GT vs CSK XI: Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings will face off in Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Tuesday, May 23, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The Titans finished the league stage as the top team, while the Super Kings finished in second place. Both teams have been in good form in the tournament, and this promises to be an exciting match-up.
The Titans have a strong batting line-up led by Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya. They also have a good bowling attack led by Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan.
The Super Kings have been equally solid with a batting line-up led by Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway and the ever present MS Dhoni.
The Titans will be looking to continue their winning run and book a place in the final. The Super Kings will be looking to upset the Titans and reach their first final since 2019.
Hardik Pandya to bowl
Hardik Pandya, the ace Indian pace bowling allrounder is likely to bowl in the upcoming match after missing out on the last league game of the tournament. However, it must be noted here that Pandya did not bowl in the last three games. His last bowling was in the game against LSG on May 7. If Hardik isn’t bowling, they might require either Dasun Shanaka or Rahul Tewatia to chip in, depending on conditions in Chennai.
MS Dhoni to bat up the order
CSK batting coach Mike Hussey has maintained that MS Dhoni doesn’t want to strain his dodgy knee by running between the wickets and thus bats down the order to provide the final flourish. But in Chennai, with the support of the home crowd, where the surface would be low and slow and in a must-win game for the CSK, the captain might bat up in the order. Dhoni has managed some cameos in the fag end of the innings but in a crunch game, Chennai would be hoping to get clucth knock from his captain.
Unlikely changes
It is most likely that that the two teams will go with same playing eleven without tinkering too much for the Qualifier 1 match in Chennai. If it all there is a change, it will be interesting to see what changes the two teams make and who comes out on top.
