L’Équipe report that Ligue 1 side Lyon want to sign 22-year-old defensive midfielder Bruno Guimarães from Brazilian 1st division side Club Athletico Paranaense.

The idea is to sign Guimarães to compensate for the potential departure of Frenchman Lucas Tousart to Hertha Berlin.

Guimarães is the captain of Brazil’s 2020 Olympics team, their side is currently participating in a qualification tournament in Colombia for next summer’s competition.

OL Sporting Director Juninho is running the discussions for this specific deal – whilst Lyon want to sign him this month, they are also interested in doing a deal in summer if they cannot complete an agreement in time for a January transfer.
