Monaco VP Vasilyev recognises that he held Lemar & Fabinho at the club against their will

Speaking in an interview with L’Équipe, AS Monaco Vice President Vadim Vasilyev admitted that he kept Fabinho and Thomas Lemar at the club last summer against their wishes.

“We said to ourselves that we could not let all our players leave, and so we kept them against their wishes. I thought that if we kept a player, he would be back in form a month later. I have realised that that is not necessarily the case. But if we were to let everyone leave, the players would take advantage of that and you would lose control.”
