The Red Devils will be hoping that their new strip brings about a reversal in fortune after enduring a tough opening to the 2018-19 campaign
Manchester United have unveiled their new away kit for the 2018-19 campaign, with Jose Mourinho’s side set to soon be turning out in pink.
The Red Devils have endured a testing start to the new Premier League season, with back-to-back defeats leaving them to reflect on their worst opening in 26 years.
Pressure is mounting on beleaguered boss Mourinho, with the Portuguese’s position already being called into question.
He will be hoping to bring about a reversal in fortune over the coming weeks, with it possible that a change in strip may deliver the required result.
United’s three outings to date have seen them don their home jersey, having welcomed Leicester and Tottenham to Old Trafford and faced Brighton on the road.
They have taken just three points from those games, but could take in a change in appearance for their next fixture.
Mourinho’s men are set to make the short journey to Lancashire rivals Burnley on Sunday.
That contest at Turf Moor may see United give a first outing to their new pink jerseys.
This is the first time in the club’s illustrious history that they have chosen to wear pink away from home.
The latest offering from kit suppliers Adidas is a nod towards local paper the Manchester Evening News and their famous ‘Football Pink’ offering, which was published in the same colour.
United consider the shirt to give the club “a modern and fresh new look designed to be worn both in the stadium and on the street”.
A statement released by Adidas added that the strip features “a new reworked performance silhouette, the design combines a colour firmly part of United’s rich football heritage with a contemporary pastel trend to create a shirt that is designed for ultimate wearability and style”.
