Sasha Banks recently appeared on Edge and Christian’s Pod of Awesomeness podcast, where she talked about a wide variety of topics. One of those topics was her upcoming Royal Rumble match against current Raw Women’s champion Ronda Rousey.

Fans may be surprised to know that Sasha had no idea that she was indeed going to be Ronda’s next opponent.

“It’s kinda crazy, it was really unexpected, too, when I found out I was going to be facing her, it was just really out of the blue. I found out the day before Raw and I was just like wait, ‘huh?’ Of course that’s how WWE always works, you never know what you’re gonna be doing, They tell you one thing and the next thing you know, something’s different.”

Banks went on to say that challenging for the title at this year’s Rumble is full circle moment for her. That’s because she only competed in the Women’s Royal Rumble match last year, where she entered first and lasted 54 minutes before being eliminated.

Sasha also talked about what’s keeping her hungry as a WWE Superstar.

“What keeps me hungry is just always striving for more. I feel like it’s cool having these ‘first time evers,’ but it’s never enough for me. For me, I want consistency. I want consistency with the long storylines, consistency of having longer matches on Raw, consistency of striving to always continue to do the best and never settling for less.”

Banks and Rousey started their program on a civil note. But they recently butted heads on Raw, which has generated some heat for their match at The Royal Rumble.
