Tag Team, TNT Title matches set for AEW Dynamite

With next Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite as the first after NXT officially departs for Tuesdays, they are loading up the show with two title matches and Mike Tyson as a ringside enforcer in another high-profile match.

In one title match, Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks will defend the titles against PAC and Rey Fenix of Death Triangle. The challengers earned the shot with their win in the Casino Tag Team Royale at March’s Revolution pay-per-view. They will be looking to hand the champions their first loss in a traditional singles match since February 29, 2020, when they lost to then-champions Kenny Omega and Hangman Page.

In another title match, Darby Allin will look to extend his winning streak when he defends the TNT Title against Matt Hardy in a falls count anywhere match. This will be Allin’s sixth defense of the title. Hardy put Allin in his sights several weeks ago and his HFO faction has been targeting him with both Sting and HFO rivals the Dark Order coming to the champion’s defense.

Next week’s show will also feature Chris Jericho vs. FTR’s Dax Harwood with Tyson as special ringside enforcer. In a change of heart, Tyson came to Jericho’s aid Wednesday when Pinnacle were beating him up in the ring as the Inner Circle were trapped in their locker room. Wednesday marked Tyson’s return to AEW for the first time since last May when he and Jericho got into a pull-apart brawl.

Also announced for next week:

Red Velvet vs. Jade Cargill: These two will finally go one-on-one after they have been feuding for months. They did square off in a tag team match that featured Cody Rhodes and Shaquille O’Neal with Cargill getting the pin on Velvet. Since then, Velvet has primarily been on Dark in tag team matches while Cargill has wrestled once, picking up a quick win.
Anthony Ogogo debut: The 2012 Olympic boxing gold medalist has been training for months and after being part of the QT Marshall-led split within the Nightmare Family, he will make his AEW debut next week.
