L’Équipe report that PSG manager Thomas Tuchel has decided that French international goalkeeper Alphonse Areola will be the established #1 goalkeeper for the club for the 2019/20 campaign.

Last season, Gianluigi Buffon was picked over the Frenchman to play against Manchester United in the Champions’ League, which had horrendous consequences for Les Parisiens’ campaign in that competition.

This decision has implications for Kevin Trapp, who is seeking regular playing time after a successful season-long loan spell with Eintracht Frankfurt. FC Porto and the German side want him permanently this summer, but his future is not resolved either way, and he may well contend with being #2 for the 2019/20 campaign in Paris.
