Speaking to reporters at the official UEFA press conference ahead of Wednesday night’s Champions’ League quarter-final clash between PSG and Atalanta, Les Parisiens’ boss Thomas Tuchel was asked to comment on the availability of Kylian Mbappé, who has been nursing an ankle injury that he sustained in the Coupe de France final.
“If he trains well today and nothing extraordinary happens to him, he will be in the team tomorrow.”
Tuchel did not expand upon in which capacity that might be, but it is expected that any appearance from the French international will occur from off of the bench, as he later indicated in an interview with RMC.
“The pressure is mounting a bit, we are lacking in rhythm, we have only had two matches, but they were two finals, two decisive matches, the same thing, and my team is great in the decisive moments, in decisive matches, like in a final, with penalties, that gave us a lot, a lot of confidence… (On Mbappé) To finish the match, it won’t be possible for 90 minutes, but to finish the match yes.”
In the press conference, he also discussed concerns over COVID-19.
On concerns over COVID-19:
No, we are not scared and we are all negative, we had another test. We are very vigilant. The organisation of our trip and the hotel is excellent. We are very prudent and very vigilant, I hope that we will remain all negative, not just for this match but also for our health. But we are not scared.
