Apparently Hideo Itami was not WWE’s first choice to be the NXT representative in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 31 on Sunday.

WWE originally considered Finn Balor and Adrian Neville for the spot, however once the match was moved to the Kickoff Show, they decided to go with Itami.

One of the main reasons WWE made the switch was due to a strong Japanese media presence at the show. The Japanese media was in attendance largely due to Tatsumi Fujinami’s WWE Hall Of Fame induction.
