Christophe Galtier: “We’ll need to beat some big teams”

Speaking following Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-1 win over Juventus, manager Christophe Galtier warned that his side would have to come up against difficult opponents, after finishing second in group H following a six-goal flurry from Benfica which meant they topped the group. As transcribed by L’Équipe, Galtier said the following:

“If we had scored one less goal last week, we would be in the last eight. But I’m happy with what my squad has produced. We were able to perform well, changing our system during the group stage. Now, if you want to go far, you have to beat great teams. I think we’ll draw a great team. Until the 90th minute we were in first place, now we are second. Congratulations to Benfica, we are the only two teams in Europe who haven’t lost (all competitions combined). We’ll wait calmly for the draw, but my players took things seriously. Tonight was a bit irrational. Last week, at 7-2, we stopped in the 90th minute, without stopping play. These are details…”
