According to Fabrice Hawkins, European champions Real Madrid remain interested in signing want-away forward Kylian Mbappé (23).
Hawkins reports that although the owners of the club are disappointed by how the saga played out last summer, the club are still interested in signing Mbappé, either during the summer of 2023 or 2024.
“Real Madrid have not abandoned the deal,” says Hawkins. However, if they are looking to complete a deal, they may need to pay a hefty fee. Whilst the Spanish club could have signed him on a free transfer this summer, he would reportedly now cost an interested party €400m. It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid, who are also targeting Erling Haaland (22), would be willing to spend such an amount on the player.
He has told those close to him that he believes signing the three-year extension back in May was a “mistake,” and according to multiple sources, Mbappé is looking for the quickest route out of PSG as he feels betrayed by the board.
